General Statements:

LIAONING QIMING is responsible for product packaging that assures the products’ proper condition and quality upon delivery to customer. Parts arrive at customer’s location without damage, rust/corrosion, or contamination. Packaging will be defined and agreed upon prior to the first direct material shipment to customer.

Packaging does not contain any contamination such as dust, dirt, grease, mold, mildew or water damage.  Barrier materials such as plastic bags or liners may be added if some problems found in transportation.

Submit Proposal:  All packaging “modifications” or “new” proposals will be submitted to customer and will not apply until mutual agreed.

  1. Packaging Alternatives and Requirements

  • Pallet-Load Dimensions:

the pallet load dimensions listed below:

Width/:                                40-44” (1,000-1,100mm)

Depth:                                  40-48” (1,000-1,200mm)

Height:                                 44” (1,117mm) maximum

Height Restriction: Includes pallet as measured from the floor to the top of material

  • Pallet Strapping Options:

(prefers polyester strapping material that is friction welded is the first choice), and Metallic Strap maybe used for exceptionally heavy pallet loads. All skids come with 4 bands to secure the load. 2 bands on each side going top to bottom.

Stretch Wrap or Shrink Wrap. Loaded pallet in excess of 750 lbs. (340 kg) will have at least 5 layers of shrink wrap applied (with 50 percent overlap of film during wrapping); Loaded pallet in excess of 1500 lbs. (680 kg) will have at least 8 layers of shrink wrap applied (with 50 percent overlap of film during wrapping).

1.3                            Corner Boards on Pallets:  Use to protect the pallet load.

1.4                             Corrugated Specifications:

Corrugated (paper fiber board) or cardboard packaging material must have strength to adequately withstand transportation and handling rigors from the supplier’s shipping dock to customer’s receiving dock  to the final customer. Corrugated packaging should be strong enough to withstand the weight of other heavy products stacked on top of it.  Corrugated material must have adequate edge crush test (ECT) or burst test strength to protect the product.

Corrugated packaging shall not utilize metal staples because of risk of injury or damage to the product.

If stacking exceptions are required, label accordingly: “DO NOT STACK, STACK ONLY 2

HIGH,”  etc

1.5                     Weight Limitation:

Preferred Maximum Pallet Weight = 1,750 Lbs. (794 Kg) or as uniquely specified

Preferred Maximum Master Carton Weight < 45 Lbs. (20.5 Kg); no Master Carton should exceed 65 Lbs. (29.5 Kg)

1.6                    Pallet Style/Type:

Cardboard gaylords are acceptable

Wood pallets are acceptable provided that they conform to industry standards.

Wood pallet must be chemical or heat treated. A treated wood pallet must be properly stamped noting that it has been treated.

Durable pressed plywood pallets are acceptable. The plywood pallet should be soundly constructed and having no broken pieces or exposed nails/screws/staples.

Imports into the U.S. utilizing wooden packaging shall be free of bark and pests and be in compliance with and according to U.S. regulations.

Durable plastic pallets conforming to size requirements are acceptable.

Steel pallet and totally enclosed steel pallet /cages and wood crates are discouraged, unless used for extremely heavy shipments or ones prone to excessive movement. Please obtain authorization prior to shipping in a wood crate or steel cage.  Examples of products that may be shipped in a steel cage include armatures or very heavy motors. Virtually all other items should be shipped on a standard wood, steel or durable plywood/plastic pallet or in a cardboard gaylord.

1.7                    Pallet Design:

Pallets should be designed and used to ensure that the pallet arrives at customer from the supplier without failing under the weight of the pallet load or from normal material handling during transit.

Pallets should be designed with a minimum of 3.5” (89mm) between the bottom deck boards and the top surface boards to allow a pallet jack or fork truck to be used for transporting the pallet without damaging the load or the pallet.

  1. Product Loading:

  • Product Loading:

Products should be loaded on pallets without unnecessarily mixing one part number on multiple pallets unless all of one number will not fit on one pallet.  It is acceptable to mix part numbers on a single pallet if there is not enough of one number to fill an entire pallet in order to minimize the cubic volume of the shipment during transit.

For mixed products in same skid, big quantity item should be stacked in the bottom of

the pallet, small quantity item to be stacked in the top of the pallet. Also make same part number should be stacked together in the top/middle/bottom of pallet.

Meanwhile, the posted position of the shipping marks need to refer to the product stacked position.

Thick cardboard must be used for each layer when loading the container to ensure

load stability.

  • Pallet stacked:

The pallet with heavy weight should be placed the bottom, the pallet with light weight should be stacked on the top; The contact area of the 2 pallets should be consistent, the top pallet should not exceed the top area of the pallet below. We prefer to use wooden pillar to fixed the 4 contact corners of the 2 pallets. See picture 3.2 below.

  • Master Cartons or bags

may be used to keep like part numbers that are small items together inside totes, cartons, and/or bulk containers.
